The Xavier Track & Field team made their annual trek to Horizon High School last Monday (4/28) and Wednesday(4/30) for the last invitational of the season prior to the upcoming Division I (May 8, 10) and State (May 16, 17) championship meets.

Twenty teams participated in the NE Valley Championships, and the Gators came in third place. The team score, though, is not necessarily the thing that brings joy and a sense of achievement.

Each athlete works to get better marks, some work to enter or move up in one of the All-Time Xavier Top-Ten lists, and others work to get that elusive school record.

Check out the following Xavier highlights:

Vivian Amoia ’25 broke the 200m school record in the prelims on Day 1 of the meet. She went from #3 on the Xavier 200m Top-Ten list (25.61) to the fastest time in Xavier history (25.20), an impressive four-tenths-of-a-second improvement.

Prior to 2025, no individual top-ten list included Vivian’s name. She now owns two school records plus top-ten marks in two other events.

Marley Stoller ’25 had not improved on last year’s 400m PR of 56.79 all season. This haunted her all season until last week. The haunt was obliterated with a huge 6.6-tenths-of-a-second PR (56.13). Marley moved from 4th to 2nd on the 400m top-ten list.

Kadence Behan-Whittington ’27 produced a couple of solid PRs in the throws. She fouled on her first two throws in the Discus. With just one throw remaining, she launched a solid 3-ft PR (from 74-7 to 77-7). She followed that up with a PR in Javelin (80-6 to 81-1).

Jakyrah Spearman ’27, who has been improving all season in all three throwing events, reached the 90-ft milestone in the Discus. As a sophomore, she is just 9ft-4in away from the Xavier Discus Top-Ten list.

Juniors Ella Wadsworth and CC Luna produced outstanding PRs in the 3200m. Ella went from 11:38 to 11:31, a 7-sec PR. CC went from 12:58 to 12:45, a 13-sec PR.
