Xavier Soccer vs Desert Vista Finishes in a Tie in 2nd Game of the Season

The Xavier varsity soccer team dominated the match last night against Desert Vista but came away with a tie after two overtime periods. The Gators were awarded a penalty kick, but it was saved by the Desert Vista goalkeeper.

Most of the play occurred in Desert Vista’s half of the field, but the Gators could not convert. The backline of SO Bianca Willis, FR Sophia Knox, and juniors Ali Brown and Charlotte Sredzinski played great all night, as did senior captain goalkeeper Kate Willmering.

The midfield of seniors Lourdes Lauterborn and Madi Shank, and SO Elie Lopez created chances to goal, and forwards Lucy Brink, Olivia Yu, Kyleigh Carr, Katerina Etsitty, Asha Patel, Myriam Lawrence, and Francesca Diaz contributed good minutes.

The Gators return to action on Monday against Boulder Creek. It will be our first home game of the season.
