Xavier Beach Volleyball Ones Pair Reaches State Pairs Final

Beach Volleyball’s ones pair, Holly Matchinsky ’25 / Kate MacDonald ’26, qualified for the final day of the Division 1 Beach Volleyball Pairs State Tournament by earning a first-round bye, winning round two, and winning the quarterfinals.

In the Semifinals, the #3-seeded Xavier Pairs team faced the #7-seeded Jordyn Decker / Emma Fischbeck team from Mountain View. Holly and Kate won the match handily 21-12, 21-14.

A short while later, they faced the #1 seed, Emma McSorley / Lauren Watson from Notre Dame Prep in the Championship Final. A fairly close battle ensued. The Notre Dame Prep Pair took home the State title, winning 21-18, 21-17.

The Matchinsky / MacDonald team had a great season. They lost only once during regular-season, non-tournament match-ups and finished the Division I State Pairs Championships as runner-ups.
