Xavier Track & Field Finishes Up on Day 2 of Division I Championships

Last Saturday, the Xavier Track & Field team of seven individuals and one relay team competed on Day 2 of the State Division 1 Championships at Red Mountain High School.

The 4x400m Relay team of LilyGrace Anderson (60.92), Nina Rao (60.15), Avaani Lallian (61.40), and Claire Hertzberg (58.63) ran faster than Thursday's prelim (4:01.47 to 4:01.10) and took seventh place, contributing two points for Xavier's team score.


After taking third in Thursday's 3200m final, Kennedy Frakes received her diploma on Saturday morning and took 8th place in the 1600m final on Saturday evening to score a point for the Gators.


FR Avaani Lallian ran her second-best time of the season in the 800m final (2:20.27) and finished in 16th place and was the second fastest freshman in the field.



JR Susannah Root jumped 10-0 in the pole vault, and in order to clear the next height of 10-6, she would have had to best her personal record  of 10-4. She gave three good tries at 10-6, almost clearing the bar on her second attempt.


In the triple jump, JR Kate Callahan got the second best jump of her career at 34-6.5.

JR Maggie Raddatz, who has jumped over 33 ft three times this year, finished with a 32-6.


In the javelin, SO Addie Bandura, who has thrown the javelin over 101 feet this year, finished with the third best throw of her career (97-5) and the fourth best among freshmen and sophomores in the field.

First-year javelin thrower, SO Evelyn McGuire, has already thrown the spear over 100 feet this year. At the Division I Championships, she finished with her second best throw at 93-4 and ranked eighth best among freshmen and sophomores in the field.
