Photography and Video at Xavier College Preparatory provide students with a rich blend of technical training and creative exploration. Through courses in digital photography, film production, editing, and visual storytelling, students learn to capture and communicate ideas with clarity and imagination. Our faculty of professional artists and filmmakers guide students in developing both their technical mastery and their individual artistic voice.
Xavier’s photography and video curriculum emphasizes visual literacy, composition, lighting, and post-production, while fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Students engage in hands-on projects that explore documentary, fine art, and narrative forms of media.
The program is complemented by opportunities to exhibit student work through the Stark Gallery and campus-wide showcases, as well as to participate in workshops and guest lectures from visiting photographers and filmmakers. Advanced students may pursue AP 2-D Art and Design or dual enrollment options, and are encouraged to join Xavier’s active National Art Honor Society chapter to extend their artistic and leadership experiences further.
