At Xavier, music comes alive through our Orchestra & Honors Orchestra, where students of all experience levels can explore their creativity, develop technical skills, and perform in a vibrant, collaborative environment.
Orchestra
Open to musicians of all abilities, the Orchestra includes strings, brass, woodwinds & percussion instruments and provides students with opportunities to perform a wide range of musical styles, from classical masterworks to contemporary selections. Students refine their playing techniques, sight-reading, and understanding of music theory while building confidence through solo, ensemble, and full-group performances.
Honor Orchestra
The Honors Orchestra includes strings, brass, woodwinds & percussion instruments, and is open to experienced musicians. Through sequential instruction, students develop instrumental technique, tone, and ensemble skills while learning to read and interpret music with precision and artistry. Regular rehearsals and performances cultivate teamwork, discipline, and a deep appreciation for music as both a creative and technical endeavor. Public performances, such as seasonal band concerts, highlight the group’s growth and musicianship. Advanced students may audition for Regional and All-State events.
Xavier’s Orchestra programs cultivate excellence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of music. Whether a beginner picking up an instrument for the first time or an experienced performer aiming for honor ensembles, every student finds her place in the rhythm of Xavier’s musical tradition.
