Perennial soccer powerhouse Xavier took on Camelback last night and scored fourteen goals while holding the Spartans scoreless. Gator subs got more playing time than usual.
It took ten players to score all fourteen goals.
As I prepared the highlight video, including some slow motion, I found myself marveling at the level of skill displayed by subs and starters alike. I saw another level of execution in passing, teamwork, ball control, and shots on goal.
As you watch the narrated highlight video below, notice the placement of the shots on goal. It reminded me of the offensive prowess and shots-on-goal accuracy from previous seasons.
I realize that playing against a significantly weaker team has something to do with our success, but the sharpness of our execution was absolutely impressive. Playing a weaker team does not guarantee the skill level I saw on the field last night.
DISCLAIMER: The highlight video includes thirteen of the fourteen goals Xavier scored. During the first two minutes of the 2nd half, I chose to take a few photos.
During that short period of time, Asha Patel decided to score a goal. I apologized to her after the game. Asha, however, did make the highlight video with a nice assist on a goal scored by Elie Lopez.
