At Xavier, music comes alive through our Concert Band and Orchestra, where students of all experience levels can explore their creativity, develop technical skill, and perform in a vibrant, collaborative environment.
Orchestra / Honor Orchestra
Open to string players of all abilities, the Orchestra provides students with opportunities to perform a wide range of musical styles—from classical masterworks to contemporary selections. Students refine their playing techniques, sight-reading, and understanding of music theory while building confidence through solo, ensemble, and full-group performances. Advanced students may audition for Regional and All-State events.
Concert Band / Honor Concert Band
The Concert Band welcomes woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians—both new and experienced. Through sequential instruction, students develop instrumental technique, tone, and ensemble skills while learning to read and interpret music with precision and artistry. Regular rehearsals and performances cultivate teamwork, discipline, and a deep appreciation for music as both a creative and technical endeavor. Public performances, such as seasonal band concerts, highlight the group’s growth and musicianship.
Together, Xavier’s Band and Orchestra programs cultivate excellence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of music. Whether a beginner picking up an instrument for the first time or an experienced performer aiming for honor ensembles, every student finds her place in the rhythm of Xavier’s musical tradition.
