Xavier Basketball Wins Big Over Boulder Creek Thursday Night

Chris Pfaff, Xavier Sportswriter
Xavier Gators basketball defeated the Boulder Creek Jaguars 70-21 on Xavier's home court Thursday, December 11. It was a game they were supposed to win, and win they did. Big.

There was no tension and no drama, but it was still a game that was fun to watch. All available players played, some getting significantly more playing time than usual.

After comparing stats from Thursday night's game with Tuesday's game versus Pinnacle, here's what I noticed:
  • Gabby Doss (FR):
    • Tuesday: no stat line
    • Thursday: 6 pts (including a three), 3 rebounds, 2 steals
  • Neeya Nuez (JR):
    • Tuesday: no stat line
    • Thursday: 1 pt, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal
  • Amayah Kill (SO):
    • Tuesday, no stat line
    • Thursday: 9 pts (on three 3-pointers), 2 rebounds, 1 block

MR. PFAFF'S PLAYER OF THE GAME
During the game, while doing video and before seeing the stats, a particular player caught my attention . . . Freshman Charlotte Chait
My thoughts during the game:
"This girl is short (turns out she is 5'3"), but she is quick, fast, aggressive, focused, and she can score. She is fun to watch."
Then I saw Charlotte's stats:
  • 13 points (Xavier #1)
  • 11 points in the second quarter alone
  •   4 rebounds (tied for Xavier #1)
  •   2 assists (one Xavier player had 4 assists; six had 2 assists)
  •   And get this: 5 steals (only one player had more: Sophie Cloud with 7 steals)

Note of interest -
Frosh and Sophs accomplished the following things:
  • scored 51 of Xavier's 70 points
  • made 7 of Xavier's 9 three-pointers
  • made 20 of Xavier's 27 steals

The highlight video below has four groups of clips:
  • Miscellaneous
  • Defense
  • Three-pointers
  • Charlotte Chait
