Xavier Softball: Offense Overwhelms; Pitching and Defense Stifle

On Thursday, March 28, Xavier Softball's offense, pitching, and defense collided to produce an 11-0 rout of the Corona del Sol Aztecs.
Offense Xavier put up five runs in the second inning to set the tone, tacked on three more over the middle innings, and added another three with one out in the sixth before the mercy rule ended the game.
The Gators finished with a .429 team batting average, including five extra-base hits among their twelve total hits.
The top three producers were:
Junior Sariah McNabb: 3 hits out of 4 at-bats, 4 RBI, with 2 doubles and 1 triple
Junior Noe Romo: 3 hits out of 4 at-bats, 2 RBI
Freshman Sophia Jaramillo: 2 hits out of 3 at-bats, 3 RBI, with 1 double, 1 homerun, and 1 homerun denied by an amazing catch from the Corona centerfielder
Pitching
Sophomore Sydney Root is having a stellar season:
Strikeouts (107) - #3 in 6A conference
Earned Run Average (0.84) - #4 in 6A Conference
No-hitters (3) - #1 in 6A conference.
On Thursday, she allowed 2 hits, no runs, and no walks, and struck out 9 out of 20 batters faced.
Defense When Corona did hit the ball into play, the Gator defense took care of business with no errors.
