Xavier Track & Field All-Time Top-Ten Marks Through First Five Meets

Chris Pfaff, Xavier Sportswriter

Now that the dust has settled following this weekend's prestigious Chandler Rotary Invitational, the fifth Meet of the 2026 Track & Field season, it's time to feature the Xavier all-time top-ten marks that have happened so far, and it's time to establish a top-ten watch for the 2026 meets yet to come.

2026 XAVIER ALL-TIME TOP-TEN MARKS

Junior Susannah Root - Pole Vault
Susannah entered the 2026 season tied for fourth in the pole vault top-ten list at 9-6, which she has cleared four times. On Saturday at the Chandler Rotary meet, she bested her personal best twice, clearing heights of 9-9 and 10-3 to increase her PB by nine inches. She is now ranked #3 all-time for Xavier pole vault.

Junior Jakyrah Spearman - Discus
Jakyrah entered the 2026 season with a PB of 90-1, which was 9ft-4in from the discus top-ten list. It took her just two meets to claim the #9 spot in the top-ten list with a throw of 101-4.

In last Wednesday's meet, she threw a disc that landed just out of bounds and traveled about 110 feet. A legal throw of 110 feet would make Jakyrah Xavier's third best discus thrower of all time.

Sophomore Evelyn McGuire - Javelin
Evelyn began throwing the javelin this year. She cracked the javelin top-ten list at #10 in her very first meet by throwing the spear 87-3. This weekend was Evelyn's second meet of the season, and she improved to 88-2 and laid claim to #9 in the javelin top ten.

Sophomore Addie Bandura - Javelin
Last season as a freshman in her very first javelin competition, Addie "shocked the world" with a top-ten performance of 87-6 (#9 ranking). Nine days later, she proved it was not a fluke by throwing 4ft-8in further and moving up to #5 in the javelin top ten (92-2).

However, she could not duplicate her success during the rest of 2025 nor in her first javelin competition of this season.

Last Wednesday, though, she broke through with a 5ft-9in improvement, 97-9, to move up to #3 on the javelin top-ten list and put herself on the watch list for throwing 100ft. She established some consistency this weekend at the Chandler Rotary meet by throwing 94-11.

2026 XAVIER ALL-TIME TOP-TEN WATCH LIST

Senior Kennedy Frakes is poised to break into the two toughest Xavier Track and Field Top-Ten lists: the 1600m and 3200m. Xavier has a rich distance-running history under the coaching of former Xavier cross country and track & field coach, Dave Van Sickle.

She ran a 5:07.10 last week in the 1600m, putting her a little less than three seconds away from the Xavier top ten.

All members of Xavier's 3200m top ten have run below 11:00. In 2024, Julia Russo ran 10:57 to enter the 3200m top ten and displace the last top-ten member who had not run under 11:00.

Kennedy ran 11:07 on March 7th. This weekend, she ran 11:03.70.

Sophomore Natalia Sumner - Shot Put
This is Natalia's first season throwing the shot. It took her just two meets to throw over 31 feet (31-3) -- a rarity for Xavier Track & Field. She is only seven inches away from the shot put top ten (31-10) .

This weekend, the three throws I was able to video landed right around 30ft line.

Freshman Ali Mitchell - 300m Hurdles
Ali ran a sub-50 twice this year: 49.53 and 49.63. She is just a little more than two seconds away from the top-ten list (47.40).

Sophomore Catalina Parker - Triple Jump
Catalina improved her PB in a big way this weekend: from 32-6.5 to 33-7.5. Another eleven inches and she'll make the top ten (34-6.5).
