In AIA Division I Tennis, in a simplistic view, there were three distinct classes of teams.
- Desert Mountain was in a class by themselves. They didn’t lose a match all season, and even more impressive, they didn’t lose a set.
– - Below the Desert Mountain class is the Xavier College Prep class. Xavier’s only losses all season were to Desert Mountain, and they were completely shutout both times.
.
In Xavier’s sixteen wins this season, they shutout eight teams, and the other eight teams never won more than two sets (out of nine) in a match.
– - Everyone else
Xavier didn’t lose a set in State until the Semifinals, Friday, May 9, when they beat AZ College Prep 5-1.
The following day, they lost to Desert Mountain 0-5 for the second time this season.
The Xavier Gator Tennis program just completed an amazing season. They dominated every team they played — except one.
