Class Requirements

College Preparatory Curriculum

Listed below are Xavier's class requirements by grade  level.  All classes at Xavier are college preparatory classes and graded, unless pass/fail is indicated.

Freshwomen, sophomores and juniors will take 7 classes each semester.  Seniors are required to take 6 classes each semester - 7 are recommended.  Depending on previous classes taken, students may qualify for more advanced classes than those listed as required.  No correspondence courses will be accepted.  IF PREREQUISITES HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED, the Director of Student Records reserves the right to assign students to an alternate level or class.

    • Biology (must be taken at Xavier)
    • Computer Programming Essentials (one semester required)
    • Fine Arts

    • English II
    • Theology II – The Mission of Jesus Christ (The Paschal Mystery), Jesus Christ’s Mission Continues in the Church
    • World Languages
    • One semester elective
  • Junior - 7 Classes Required

    • Chemistry
    • Fine Arts (strongly recommended)
    • Mathematics
    • English III
    • Theology III – Sacraments as Privileged Encounters with Jesus Christ; Responding to the Call of Jesus
    • United States History - must be taken at Xavier

  • Senior - 7 Classes Required

    • American Government (one semester, must be taken at Xavier)
    • AP English Literature and Composition
    • Honor Arizona History and Honor Economics/Financial Literacy Independent Study Packets (must be completed through Xavier during summer prior to senior year)
    • Mathematics
    • Physics, Honor Human Anatomy and Physiology, or Environmental Science AP
    • Theology IV: Life in Jesus Christ; History of the Catholic Church
    • Electives to complete six classes; seventh class recommended

Class Requirements

YOUR COURSE CHOICES WILL BE HONORED BASED ON CLASS SIZE AND NUMBER OF SECTIONS BEING OFFERED.

SENIORS must enroll in Honor Arizona History and Honor Economics/Financial Literacy, which are required by the State, and are independent study courses at Xavier. These courses are completed through Xavier during the summer prior to senior year. Each packet is $75.00, for a total of $150.00 which is paid in May at the bookstore when the packets are purchased. THESE COURSES ARE ONLY FOR XAVIER SENIORS WHO WILL GRADUATE FROM XAVIER.

Because students are required to take certain courses in sequence at Xavier, no student will be given any credit for summer or online courses from any high school other than Xavier without written permission from the Director of Student Records and the Principal.

Tuition for the 2016-2017 school year must be paid through the March 1st payment, in the Finance Office, before a student can register for 2017-2018 classes. By March 1, 2017, the $300.00 registration fee must be turned in to the Finance Office. The registration fee is $325.00 after May 1, 2017. There is a $25.00 charge for any checks returned by the bank not paid.

After a conference between the student and her counselor, the counselor will confirm that all prerequisites have been met and the student's schedule will be approved. The registration is complete after the counselor submits schedule, and then is approved by the Director of Student Records and the Principal.

Student must be registered for the 2017-2018 school year in order to run for any office or try out for Spiritline.

If not returning to Xavier, give the preliminary schedule sheet to your counselor by March 1, 2017.  Not returning withdrawal form must be signed and on file in the Finance Office by May 1, 2017. Your transcript will not be released until your withdrawal form is on file in the Finance Office.

No student may apply for financial aid until she is registered for 2017-2018. Financial Aid applications are available online (www.fairapp.com).

No financial aid will be allocated unless a Financial Aid application has been completed and the application has been processed by F.A.I.R.

MEETING FINANCIAL AID DEADLINES ARE ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.
