Xavier Track takes 4th at Rattler Booster Invitational

Xavier took 4th place out of 25 teams at North Canyon High School's Rattler Booster Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, March 16.
  • 127 North Canyon
  • 124 Chandler
  •   82 Liberty
  •   60 Xavier

Xavier's only event champion was Jada Sims with a 5-6 in the High Jump.

Xavier girls getting 2nd or 3rd were:
  • 2nd - Jamie Stelnik, 3200
  • 2nd - 4x400 Relay team of Sophie Brohard, Leila Grant, Johnnie Mitchell, and Jada Sims
  • 2nd - 4x800 Relay team of Ellie Higgins, Johnnie Mitchell, Maria Benitez, and Sophie Brohard
  • 3rd - Jada Sims, 100 hurdles (.01 behind her PR)(.08 away from the school record)

Personal Records (PR), also called career bests, are note-worthy accomplishments at any track meet. The following Xavier girls got PR's at the Rattler Booster meet:
  • Senior Janna Hynds had the biggest day with regard to personal records:
    • a 2ft-7in PR in the Discus AND
    • an 8in PR in the Shot Put.
  • Sophomore Bethany Barnwell came up big in the discus with a 2ft PR, breaking the 70ft barrier.
  • Senior Johnnie Mitchell PR'd in the 400m.
  • Lauren Besh had a nice 1ft PR in the Pole Vault over last season's best, breaking the 6ft barrier. Next barrier: 7ft.
  • Frosh Cierra Gonzalez PR'd in the 100m.
