PSAT 9 - This is a College Board authored practice test focused on 9th Grade Math/Evidenced-based Reading & Writing. All frosh complete this exam on National Testing Day in October.
PSAT - This Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test is administered to all of our sophomores and juniors on National Testing Day in October. It is a rich and practical rehearsal for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) typically taken in the spring of junior year for college admission application requirements.
NMSQT -(National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) applies to the juniors only. This is a prestigious distinction to top scorers in regard to college entrance and financial opportunities.
SAT/Subject Tests - The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is one of the two options for U.S. College Entrance Exams. Students register at collegeboard.org and typically attempt one of more of these Saturday Assessments in the spring of their junior year.
Free SAT preparation can be done online on Naviance Test Prep or by building an account with the prestigious online Khan Academy. Xavier’s counseling department also has a library of preparation materials.
SAT Subject Tests are typically recommended in numbers of two or three and highly competitive colleges. These are smaller and more specialized reasoning exams focusing on core subject areas. Individual college admissions offices should be contacted by the student to inquire about specific SAT Subject Test recommendations/requirements.
ACT - The ACT (American College Testing) is one of the two options for U.S. College Entrance Exams. Students register at actstudent.org and typically attempt one or more of these Saturday Assessments in the spring of their junior year.

AP - AP (Advanced Placement) courses represent the nationwide highest level of rigor. Xavier students will take an AP Exam at the end of the year. Depending on their score and college choice, college credit may be granted. Students must qualify to be enrolled in Advanced Placement classes. All seniors, however, enroll in AP English.
