Xavier Beach Volleyball Defeats Desert Vista; Solidifies their #3 Division 1 State Ranking

On Tuesday, April 2, on their home courts, Xavier Beach Volleyball defeated Desert Vista 3-2 to strengthen their #3 Division 1 State ranking with one regular season match remaining.

The winning pairs were:

#1s JR Kate McDonald & SR Holly Matchinsky (2-0)
#3s SO Gracie Graf & JR Elle Freeland (2-1)
#4s FR Sophia Peterson & JR Delaney McHale (2-0)

Both losing pairs forced the 15-point tie-breaking set, losing 1-2.

It should be noted that there is only one senior amongst the ten varsity players who played on Tuesday, which produces high expectations for next year.

Xavier’s record on the season is 10-1. Their only loss has been to #1-ranked, undefeated Sandra Day O’Connor. The Gators should enter the Division 1 State Tournament as the #2 or #3 seed.

Division 1 State rounds one and two are scheduled for Monday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 23, and should be played on Xavier’s home courts with the Gators being a #2 or #3 seed.
