The Music Man

Meredith Willson’s The Music Man won both Tony and Academy Awards and for good reason. This tribute to life in a small Iowa town in 1912 is filled with memorable characters and songs. The musical may be old-fashioned in its humor and sentiment, but it feels amazingly original and new in its use of music, dance, and characters to tell the tale of a salesman who hoodwinks and charms the suspicious town of River City, Iowa into entrusting their money and children to a modern day Pied Piper. The Music Man contains among the most memorable songs of Broadway, including “76 Trombones,” “Goodnight, My Someone,” “Lida Rose,” and “Gary, Indiana,” to name a few. Bring your family and friends of all ages to see this All-American Classic! Xavier has even added a Saturday matinee to its regular evening performances, so there’s

every reason everyone to attend!
