Xavier competes in Arizona's largest, most competitive athletic division: the 5A Division 1.
The 11 A1A sanctioned interscholastic sports offered at Xavier include: cross country, golf, volleyball, swimming & diving, badminton, soccer, softball, basketball, track tennis and spiritlines. Xavier also has the Gator Line, non-competitive spiritline to provide additional opportunities for students to be involved. Xavier has two competitive club sports: lacrosse and crew (rowing). Most interscholastic sports have Varsity, JV and Freshwomen level teams. Xavier has an outstanding weight training and fitness center, a nationally-recognized student athletic training program and varied intramural programs.
In 2010, the Xavier golf team is ranked #1 in the National Federation Record Book, and the team has been the 5A State Champion 28 of the last 30 years. In 2005, the Xavier swim team ranked #1 in the nation. In the 2009-2010 school year, Xavier won 5A Division 1 State Championships in Badminton, Swimming & Diving, Soccer, Golf, Cross Country and Volleyball, as well as winning 8 of the 11 possible Regional Championships. The Spiritline was named National Spiritline Runner-up in 2010. In May 2009, Xavier won the H.A. Hendrickson Award for "The Best Athletic/Activity Program" in the 5A Conference. During the school year 2009-2010, three Xavier students were named as Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year. In 2010, Xavier Cross Country and Track star Jessica onn was named AIA Student of the Year. Catherine Landry was named AIA Scholar Activity Student of the Year.
We encourage you to consider trying out for a Xavier team, Spiritline or club. Some students prefer to support the teams as student manager, student trainer, school mascot, or National Anthem singer.
