The mission of the Stark Gallery is to present professional and educational exhibitions of contemporary art that are challenging and innovative in both content and media. In one exhibition season a range of media, content, and point of view are represented. Exhibitions serve as a teaching tool for the department of art and reflect the needs, interests and concerns of students.  Exhibitions also support the educational objectives of other departments at Xavier College Preparatory and serve as cultural and intellectual enrichment for the Xavier community. The Stark Gallery encourages the community-at-large to become more aware of the important role the arts play in education and the general enhancement of everyday life the visual arts provide.
